Digital Cinema Package (DCP)

Here is how the picture comes together. We master Digital Cinema Packages to the DCI standard, producing the encrypted or unencrypted packages that cinemas and festivals need for theatrical projection. Our team builds the package from the finished picture and surround audio master, handling JPEG 2000 encoding, the cinema color space, reel structure, subtitle tracks and the composition playlist. We prepare KDM key delivery for encrypted packages, check playback on cinema servers and check that the DCP runs cleanly before it ships.

Here is how that works. Belgium's multilingual structure means subtitle and audio versioning across Dutch, French and English is a routine part of DCP work, and we build the corresponding subtitled and dubbed versions a Belgian theatrical release demands. We set up with conform, color and audio so the package reflects the OK'd final master, and we deliver tested DCPs ready for premiere, festival screening or theatrical distribution.

Here is what we have to work with. Belgium has an active festival circuit that sets clear expectations for DCP delivery: Film Fest Gent, host of the World Soundtrack Awards, the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, the Anima animation festival and the Magritte and Ensor film awards all screen from DCI-compliant packages. Belgian features often travel further afield — the Dardenne brothers are two-time Palme d'Or winners, Lukas Dhont's 'Close' took the Grand Prix at Cannes, and 'The Broken Circle Breakdown' and 'Bullhead' earned Best Foreign Language Film Oscar nominations — all demanding flawless theatrical packages for global premieres. Belgium's Tax Shelter has concentrated post and finishing expertise in Brussels, Ghent and Antwerp, giving DCP projects access to sites handling the full theatrical pipeline. Completed packages and their source masters are archived for re-issue, festival re-runs and future theatrical distribution.
