Format Conversion & Encoding

Here is what we have to work with. We convert and encode finished masters into the exact formats each delivery destination needs, handling codec, wrapper, resolution, frame rate and color space transformation. Our team works within a color-managed pipeline that supports pro formats from camera-original media through broadcast and streaming deliverables, producing high-quality transcodes that preserve image and audio fidelity. Standards conversion between frame rates and resolutions is handled with motion-compensated processing to avoid artefacts. Each encode is QC-verified against the destination specs before handoff.

Here is how that works. Belgium's multilingual structure means encoding often runs in parallel across Dutch, French and English versions with their subtitle and audio tracks. We set up with conform and delivery so the right format reaches the right platform. We structure output so a single OK'd master can be efficiently encoded for theatrical, broadcast and streaming release.

Belgium's broadcast and streaming landscape sets the tech targets for format work: VRT channels Een and Canvas, RTBF, the commercial TV networks VTM and RTL Belgium and the streaming sites Streamz each specify their own delivery formats, and VRT and RTBF as EBU members enforce EBU R128 loudness and EBU tech specs. Global streaming sites add further format and encoding needs that we match precisely.

Belgium's Tax Shelter has concentrated post expertise in Brussels, Ghent and Antwerp, giving encoding projects access to sites that also handle conform, QC and versioning, and the country's strong digital infrastructure — including one of Google's largest European data centres at St. Ghislain — supports large-scale transcoding workflows. Encoded deliverables and their source masters are archived so re-encodes for new platforms and formats can proceed from a verified source.
